Greatness

My Lord,
I was once a child.
A lowly heart,
I carried.
A lowly heart I wore,
chained to my wrists.

My life,
an open book
for the amusement
of others.
An unassuming mascot,
paraded for sheer
entertainment.

Years wiser,
ever-escaping the
tales of misery.
God, I look to you.

I’m walking through
moments lost.
If this is greatness,
then this must
be the cost.
